EMC Enhances Executive Team by Appointing John Finney as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)
Satellite Industry Leader and Founding Member of O3b Brings Decades of Experience to EMC

MIRAMAR, Fla., Oct. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- EMC has appointed John Finney as chief commercial officer (CCO).  This appointment is to enhance the company's leadership in delivering the most mission-critical communications services, in the world's most remote locations, and for people and businesses on the move.

John Finney joins EMC as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

"We welcome John's experience and leadership," said Abel Avellan, founder and CEO, EMC.  "We are in the most pivotal growth stage our industry has seen.  John brings the strategy, deep market understanding and commercial development acumen to help us continue to grow at the same phenomenal rate we have experienced over the last years."

"In my view EMC is now the outright leader in global communications – especially satellite service provision," Finney said.  "I am really thrilled to be able to join a great team and be part of the exciting future EMC has ahead.  The company delivers the most mission-critical services to the most demanding customers in the most remote locations.  Its services are truly global, diverse, clearly differentiated and supported by a world-class team of seasoned professionals.  Owning and operating the most advanced global mobility platform in the world will make a vast difference for EMC going forward.  This is what quickly convinced me to join the company."

Finney has experience in leading and transitioning companies to make them world-class within their industries.  Prior to EMC, he was a founding employee and the CCO at O3b Networks with a broad range of responsibilities.  Finney also served as regional managing director of Ciena, running the company's Northern Europe and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) operations.  Before Ciena, he held several executive leadership positions.  At Alcatel-Lucent, he was a global business unit leader and at Huawei, he was the first European employee responsible for the company's entry and growth strategies.

Finney is a satellite and telecommunications industry trailblazer, sought after speaker, and Global Telecoms Business has cited him as a Top 40 Global Telecoms Executive three years consecutively.
